These pictures below from Engadget are supposedly of the new Apple phone or "network testing."

It seems like a Samsung SGH-x497 (below) with a badly cut Apple gift card stuffed into the SIM card slot.

Car Shopping

Well, the time has come for a new car. The 1990 Honda Civic just isn't cutting it anymore at all.

Discussion with the parents seems to be to wait to see what direction I will be going in university, and then to buy any car, preferrably small because a big car for us is useless. I've got my eyes set on the new Acura RSX.

Ya it is one sexy car, and it drove great when I went for my test drive. I'm wondering if anyone has any comments on it or anything? Post in the comments section and we'll see.

iPod Gets Coloured

Now, for the same price as regular iPod's up to a week ago, you can get an iPod Photo. Except they just call it an iPod now because they all have colour screens, including the U2 Edition. The only iPods without colour screens as of yet are the mini's and the anyways screenless shuffle.

If you just bought a regular 20 gig iPod, prepare to kick yourself in the ass. Bad timing or what?

On another note, iTunes 4.9 was released and it has built in "podcasting" capabilities, however many people have been having problems with the subscriptions.

AMD Quad-Cores, IE Still Sucks

AMD announced that they should have their Opteron processors running QUAD yes thats QUAD cores by 2007. They have even prepared a special slideshow for you all to watch.
For the love of pixelation, we just almost wrapped up the dual core race, now we're already moving this far forward?

In other news, there is an IE toolbar that now supports and MSN search, and tabbed browsing. Way to be late. Read more here at Gizmodo. But even better, just go download Firefox.

On a final note, i have just seen a rumor at a few places around the net that an x86 based variant of Apples OSX Tiger has already been leaked. This makes the transition to Intel processors so much more real. Maybe there is a Mac out there already running Windows? *gasp*

Dead Pixel Fixer

I came across this program that was made by a forum user specially for the PSP. It is made to fix dead/stuck pixels. I don't really know what to think right now. Some people have said it worked on their PSP and some have even used it on LCD TV's and flat panel monitors.

The program works on the basic premise of flashing colours rapidly in succession to bounce the pixel around and get it working properly again. They say it is best to leave it on for a full day.

To me, this seems like a file that Call For Help 2.0 had on the program a while ago, which helped IDENTIFY dead pixels by doing the same thing but this seems too good to be true. Some say it works, some say it does nothing, some say it made their pixel problems worse from all the rapid flashing.

My take on this is that it MAY work for some frozen pixels out of the box but will be useless for truly DEAD pixels [which are either stuck on or off]. With regards to the reports that it made pixels worse, the only reason i can think of is because they were faulty and only partially functioning, and the rapid flashing put them down for good.

Yes, they have come far since their founding days, but i still maintain that Google shall pull ahead in the race for global domination.

Hokay, well back to the actual product. It was released for public beta this week and while many say it "looks promising" they also maintain that it will never attract the pros [or pirates for that matter] as well as Adobe does.

If you own a laptop and a desktop PC and are furious every time you need to use your printer with your laptop (providing you don't have a printserver or router), or your internet, or your new flatscreen display, or your other peripheral devices; anyways, you get the picture, the list goes on and on....

UniXpress has come out with a new dock plus USB cable on sterioids or whatever your take on it is.
The "Port Replicator" as they have dubbed it, can stay plugged into your desktop, but when you bring your laptop home, you just plug in ONE yes thats right one, USB cable into your laptop and have all of the functionality of your peripherals.

Personally, I think i could come up with something a little more innovative. Soooo, anyone with deep pockets out there?

Intel added DRM (digital rights management) to its dual-core processor without much commotion thinging it could pull a fast one on community.
This makes it possible to prevent piracy at the hardware rather than the software level making workarounds much more difficult.

How STUPID can you get?
Well apparently, two British Star Wars fans decided to make their own light sabers. They took flourescent glass tubes, and filled them with fuel to create their mock light sabers. When re-enacting a scene from the movie, they blew their creations up and suffered 3rd degree burns to most of their bodies.

They're still alive but IMO they should be dead just for being that stupid they don't deserve to use up space on the Earth.

Have a laptop that you are afraid will get stolen? Want to take some percautions to make sure that doesn't happen?

Well, then go with the salesman who has had 2 hours of training in this field and buy a Kensington cable lock. They have a warranty that if the lock is broken, and your laptop stolen, they will reimburse you. However that is only valid if the theft occured with force...

That is where this video comes in. I saw this on digg and thought it would be an interesting view for anyone regardless if you have a laptop or not.

All that stands between a thief and your laptop is a) a roll of toilet paper b) a pen and lastly c) a piece of tape.

Power Outage At E3

Well that just lightens the mood doesnt it now?

The power outage hit just before the show opened and left some booths with limited power. I can imagine the riots this created :P

Playstation 3

The veil of secrecy has been lifted by Sony on their PS3 console. There were no leaks as with the Xbox 360 but nevertheless, the PS3 looks to be a great next gen console. However, so do the other consoles, it will be a tough battle in my eyes.

The Xbox 360

There are tons of reports flying around the net and conflicting rumors about the next Xbox. It has however been confirmed that the new generation will be called the "Xbox 360" and reports say it will have a "platinum white" finish. It is wierd that the designers would stray from the regular green and black alien look. Is the iPod to blame for this design change? Maybe, maybe not.

What is for sure is that the new Xbox whatever it is called, will be debut on MTV with Frodo the "seasoned gamer" hosting the show.

The original release was slated to be during E3 where Sony and Nintendo both plan to unveil their next-gen consoles as well.

The "nextbox" is however expected to go on sale at some point in October/November this year right in time for the madness of the holiday season shopping jitters. Sony and Nintendo's consoles should follow sometime thereafter in 2006.

Are Sony and Nintendo shooting themselves in the foot by not releasing all around the same time? Will there be changes? Only time will tell but i can say one thing for sure. I'm not buying any of those consoles until the hype dies down and i see which one is actually the best one for me. Till then ill stick with my PS1 and my computer to provide my gaming fix.

Munich Migrates To Linux

Hitachi Gets Vertical

Hitachi announced their new breakthrough in drive storage. The data will be stored vertically versus horizontally which makes for an increase on average about 100 times the same drive sizes today with the same physical size remaining intact. Sony PSP

Thats right, its here folks, March 24th at 00:01, many stores opened to allow purchase of the PSP.

The value pack costs $379 CAD and comes with a bunch of stuff not to mention the PSP itself as well...Would you spend that much?
The huge screen is a big pro for the device, but the fact that it doesn't replace all the gadgets you have now may keep it from entering your house. It plays music, but gaming on the go isn't always possible right?
They say it will revolutionize portable gaming but IMO im sceptical at best.

If Sony tried to make a PDA, music player, cell phone, with not all the emphasis on gaming, that would be a winner in my book.

Free Ipod!...Well, not so fast...

Looking around the internet, you'd swear that everything on earth was free...

Sites like freeipods.com, freepsp.com, and free.com are getting a lot of positive press lately.

As i have maintained, IMO this is a scam. You cannot get a 500$ piece of technology for free just because somewhere down the line, someone has to pay for it, and filling out survey's is surely not going to make up for that money.

Then there are sites that require you to recruit friends to sign up "under" you and create a chain to recieve their own free ipod. Again blatant scamming.

The truth of the matter is, you have to sign up for offers that obviously cost money, and then stay signed up for a few months to prove to them that you are sticking with this mission. After that, even if you cancel, you will have wasted at least 50$-100$. Not to mention all of the spam you will get, email, and physical mail because of this "free" opportunity.

In the long run you are better off just saving up for that new ipod, or sony psp or whatever else you are brainwashed into thinking you are able to get for free.

Mozilla drops Mozilla

Version 1.7 will be the last of the Mozilla releases mainly due to the fact that the company would like to focus more on the Firefox browser and Thunderbird mail client. With IE 7 being released soon, Microsoft is clicking at their heels and updating the Mozilla web browser with built-in email client probably is not feesable anymore since its popularity has been diminishing.

"The 1.7.x line will be the last set of Seamonkey products released and maintained by the Mozilla Foundation.” It continued: “The Mozilla Foundation will provide infrastructure for those interested in working on the 1.7.x releases, which we expect will include a number of vendors who provide these products to their customers."

Considering the Mozilla suite is what made them and helped with the popularity of Firefox and Thunderbird, the move may seem a little strange but at the same time understandable.

7 Megapixel Camera Phone

Samsung just today unveiled a 7 yes thats right seven (not a typo) megapixel camera phone. Previously, this was deemed impossible but even now, the early images look like a camera with a phone glued to the back. It is foremost a camera but i guess it does double duty and saves you from carrying around another thing in your pocket...

Recently, a Taiwanese company called Luxpro came out with the "Super Shuffle" portable music player. I've seen some clones of products but this one has got to be the closest. It is the same player right down to the ads minus the apple logos. If this thing performs close to Apple's Shuffle, and is cheaper, I could actually see this thing selling. It has inverted apple displays (90 degrees) which give you regular monitor width but amazingly tall length...ya ill shut up now and give you some pics:

Well its the new year already, i dont feel any different at all but w/e thats already expected.
On Friday night (new year's eve) i ended up celebrating at Sio's house which was freaking amazing...
Stellas there as always and snuck out to light off some fireworks lol

Its November 24th 2004 and im starting this blog just to keep a record of what i am up to.
Now that all my tests are done with i have some free time except i still have to focus on physics *shudder*
I had my white pine exec interview yesterday and i am confident that everything went well...im hoping i get a spot on the exec but i have to kill hardisty because he dropped out of the running...grrrrr
